General Description:

Responsible for developing and supporting all Student Council and non-sports student events. Supports Student Council members as they promote student leadership and improve the school and as they contribute to school-wide activities promoting spirit and pride in the school and community. Provide guidance and support for Student Council fundraising activities.

 

Essential Job Elements:

  1. Sponsor, advise and provide leadership and support to the High School Student Council.
  2. Attend all council meetings, council events, council/class fundraising activities, council extra-curricular activities, school-day class meetings, Homecoming events and student beginning-of-year orientation meetings.
  3. Hold weekly council meetings to discuss ideas for the good of the school and to plan future meetings and events.
  4. Work with the council to organize events, including Homecoming Week activities and committees, class competitions and guidelines, Homecoming Dance and clean up, Halloween Carnival, student assemblies, food drive, blood drive, last school day luncheon and other activities as assigned.
  5. Work with the council to develop budgets for all activities and events.
  6. Insure adherence to proper procedures for collecting and disbursing of funds.
  7. Complete required paperwork in specified time and manner.
  8. Encourage students to appreciate and value their classmates, school, and community.
  9. Supervise students in school settings and at special events.
  10. Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  11. Inform administration of class and student activities.
  12. Promptly report any accident or illness affecting students in the Advisor's charge or any other reportable or serious incident which might affect the school, teachers or students therein.
  13. Take all responsible precautions to ensure the health and safety of students and to provide appropriate equipment, materials and facilities.
  14. Maintain a copy of student medical release forms and take these on all activities.
  15. Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required. Participate in all training as requested by the supervisor.
  16. Represent the school and the District in a professional manner in all interactions.
  17. Ensure compliance with District policies and regulations and with local, state and federal law.
  18. Maintain confidentiality regarding student, staff and management related information.
  19. Supports with integrity the mission, vision, goals and positive culture of Joseph City Schools.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

  1. Leadership skills sufficiently effective to perform assigned duties.
  2. Communication skills sufficiently effective to perform assigned duties.
  3. Works well with others.
  4. Able to successfully work with and teach adolescentstudents.

 

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, walking, moving, sitting, speaking, hearing, reaching with arms and hands, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.  Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.   Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers.

 

Working Conditions:

Employee may regularly work both indoors and outdoors. Noise level in the work environment may be moderate to high. The work environment may vary from extremely cold to extremely hot. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with time constraints and interact with students, other employees, and public.
