Instructional Aide I/II (Choir Accompanist)

General Description:

Under supervision of choir teacher, accompany the choir in practices and at concerts.

 

Essential Job Elements:

  1. Assists the teacher in the preparations for concerts by accompanying the choir classes on the piano.
  2. Participates in student activities by interacting, observing, modeling desired behavior.
  3. Monitors students during brief periods of teacher absence.
  4. Assists with the supervision of students during classes and concerts.
  5. Maintains an attitude and work environment that generates, collaboration and caring.
  6. Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements.
  7. Support and work effectively with supervisor and other administrators.
  8. Maintain confidentiality regarding student, staff and management related information.
  9. Support with integrity the mission, vision, goals and positive culture of Joseph City Schools.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Associates or higher degree or equivalent required for placement as Instructional Aide II
  3. Eligible for Arizona Substitute Teacher Certificate
  4. Proficiency in reading music and playing the piano as the choir accompanist.
  5. Related experience and/or training preferred.

 

Mental Tasks:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to listen and obtain clarification, record and deliver information, explain procedures, gather and analyze information, identify problems and solutions and to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to write routine reports, activity/lesson plans and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.

 

Physical Tasks:

Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion is not normally required to perform all aspects of the job. Depending on the specific assignment, assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Some assignments require regular lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds. Work involves sitting for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, and holding and grasping objects. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties. Verbal communicative ability may be required of certain positions. Uses audio-visual equipment, including computers and related technology, marker boards, bulletin boards, copiers and printers. May use hand tools, office equipment and power driven machinery.

 

Working Conditions:

Indoor – classroom environment. Outdoor – all weather conditions and temperatures. Playground or sports field environment. Exposure to noise, dusts, gas and fumes.
